Today Mr Smith took eight aspiring lawyers from St. Michael’s to One Essex Court, chambers of Mr Sebastian Isaac, barrister and King’s Counsel. In the conference room, Mr Isaac talked the group through an international case currently being tried at Commercial Court under Judge David Foxton (a £50 million Cyber Attack Damages case). Students were later able to attend trail while Lead Counsel for The Claimant cross-examined The Defence’s Legal Expert, the ex-Chief Justice for Liberia. After the session Judge Foxton, who is Head of Commercial Court, talked our students through life as a Barrister and as a judge. Before this the group had visited The Royal Courts of Justice and seen a number of cases in trial; afterwards they took lunch with Mr Isaac at the 500 year old Middle Temple Hall.
