Students and staff at St Michael’s Catholic College are celebrating today their best set of GCSE results to date. This exceptional achievement sees students not only surpass the school’s already excellent results from previous years but also firmly establishes St Michael’s as a centre of academic excellence.

The school is particularly proud to announce that an impressive 11 subjects achieved pass rates of between 90-100%, demonstrating the exceptional breadth of achievement across the curriculum. This remarkable consistency underscores the dedication of both students and teachers to achieving high standards across a wide variety of subjects. Furthermore, the results highlight significant individual successes, with 74% of students achieving at least one top 7-9 grade. This statistic reflects the school’s commitment to fostering an environment of not only high achievement but one where every individual is encouraged to reach their full potential. Core subject performance remains very strong, with an impressive pass rate of 94% in English and 85% in Maths ensuring students have a solid foundation for their future pathways.

Felicity Corcoran Headteacher of St Michael’s Catholic College said ‘We are absolutely thrilled with these truly exceptional GCSE results. It is important to remember that Year 11 students receiving their GCSE results today have had to overcome the challenge of starting their secondary education in September 2020 in the midst of the covid pandemic. These outcomes are therefore a testament to the incredible hard work, resilience and dedication of all of our students, supported by our truly outstanding staff and the steadfast encouragement of parents and carers. These results represent countless hours of effort, ambition, and commitment and open doors to future success. We are immensely proud of each and every student and wish them well as they take their next exciting steps, with majority staying on at our high performing Sixth form.”

Joshua A who was the highest achiever with grade 9s in all 10 subjects commented “I am just so happy that I am actually speechless”, Asiri C who achieved 11 Grade 9s and 8s said – I’m glad my 2 years of hard work have paid off and I’d like to thank all my teachers at St Michael’s for believing in me!

These unparalleled results mark a significant milestone for St Michael’s Catholic College, following on from impressive A’ Level and CTEC results and Oxbridge success last week and an ‘Outstanding all areas’ Ofsted inspection earlier this year. All of which serve to reinforce the school’s mission to bring students to the fullness of life through the highest standards of Catholic education and pastoral care.
