Expectations
In "Our Sixth Form"
Our students are expected to be aspirational role models for students lower down the school. We expect them to dress in a professional and business like way, attend college and lessons regularly and punctually, be respectful of themselves and others at all times and make the most of the opportunities they are provided with.
Academic Commitment and Excellence
- High Standard of Academic Work: Students are expected to demonstrate diligence and commitment to their studies, consistently producing work that reflects their full potential and the demanding standards of A-Level or equivalent courses.
- Independent Study and Organisation: Taking full responsibility for their learning, including managing independent study periods, meeting deadlines without fail, and proactively organising their notes, resources, and revision schedules.
- Active Participation: Showing up to all lessons punctually and prepared, engaging actively in class discussions, and seeking help or clarification from teachers promptly when needed.
- Aspiration and Progression: Setting ambitious goals for university or career progression, and actively working with the sixth form staff to research and prepare for the next steps, including UCAS applications or apprenticeship interviews.
Personal Conduct and Professionalism
- Exemplary Behaviour and Respect: Maintaining a mature and respectful attitude towards all members of the college community—staff, peers, and younger students—at all times.
- Adherence to the Dress Code: Complying strictly with the sixth form dress code, treating it as a professional standard reflecting the serious nature of their studies and their role as role models.
- Attendance and Punctuality: Ensuring 100% attendance is the target, with any unavoidable absence being properly reported and documented immediately. Punctuality to all lessons and registration is essential.
- Integrity: Upholding the highest standards of honesty in all academic work, including coursework, exams, and personal statements, and refraining from any form of plagiarism or academic misconduct.
Community and Faith Engagement
- Role Models for Younger Students: Recognising their position as the most senior students and positive role models for the main college body, demonstrating leadership and maturity in communal areas.
- Contribution to College Life: Actively participating in the wider life of the college, such as through volunteering (e.g., mentoring younger students, supporting college events), leading societies, or involvement in the Sixth Form Council.
- Upholding the Catholic Ethos: Respecting and participating appropriately in the faith-based life of the college, including assemblies, services, and reflections, in line with the college’s values.
- Responsible Use of Facilities: Treating the sixth form facilities and the wider college environment with care, keeping areas clean and tidy, and being mindful of shared resources.
These expectations aim to prepare students not just for exams, but for the independence, responsibility, and community engagement required in higher education and the professional world.
