St Michael’s Catholic College: Business Partners

St Michael’s has used its Business Specialism to establish and develop links with a number of local and national companies in order to raise aspirations and provide opportunities and interesting experiences for students in all year groups to meet people from a variety of backgrounds and industries.

Below is a list of the businesses the school is currently working with and the students they are supporting:

Barclays

Have delivered a presentation to 6th form about careers in banking and will be delivering some workshops with students in the lower school later this year.

Bloomberg

Run monthly language mentoring sessions with GCSE French and Spanish students to help them develop their speaking skills and prepare for speaking exams.

Bryanston Square

Deliver immersion days and use their business links to develop and run a raising aspirations programme for students in years 8, 9 and 12.

Capital South and various associated employers

Capital South and various associated employers (local, city, national & international companies) – provide placements for the year 10 Work Experience Programme.

Chris Clarke General manager at Kwittken & Co

Mentors a year 10 social enterprise company and supports them to develop and run their own business for a year.

Grant Thornton

Grant Thornton works closely with St Michael's to deliver a School Enterprise Programme for pupils to develop entrepreneurial skills. Year 7s set up and run their own micro-business while raising money to invest in developing-world entrepreneurs. Volunteers provide support through workshops and mentoring to help unlock the pupils’ potential for growth.

HSBC

Run a scheme with 6th form students to raise aspirations and provide information about careers.

Ince & Co Lawyers

Deliver a weekly reading programme to students in year 7.

Ming Ai Institute in London

Develop and deliver cultural and creative learning days and experiences for students in years 7-9 with the Creativity and Technology faculty.

Price Waterhouse Coopers

Run a mentoring scheme with students in year 9 who are at risk of underachieving and they will be delivering CV, interview techniques and raising aspirations workshops with year 10.

Prudential

Prudential work with students across the school, offering activities that support personal growth as well as developing key skills for work and higher education. CEO John Foley is a proud ex-pupil of the school and this partnership represents a strong desire to work together to provide real opportunities for St. Michael’s students.

Thames Water & London Youth Rowing

Sports development programme to train teachers as rowing coaches and providing rowing experiences for young people.

SEO Scholars Programme

SEO Scholars Programme for gifted and talented students in years 11,12 and 13 and provides students with links to various businesses and Russell Group universities and supports students to access mentoring, internships, summer schools and university experiences.

Young Enterprise

Run a Jazz works workshop with the Music department every year and they run events for students every day during the college’s Business and Enterprise week in July each year.
