St Michael’s Day Celebration

page

On Friday 1st July the college held a celebration in honour of our patron St Michael. Every year group devised a range of activities in order to raise money for charity – with amazing results in terms of both creativity and enjoyment. Year 7 were busy all day creating mascots for Sports day, with a number of ingenious ideas including an Angel who will be holding an Olympic flame. Year 8 created short films on the topics of their choice from ‘Being Young’, ‘Days of Summer’ and ‘Faith, Hope and Love’. Students created the plot and the roles as well as filming them on ipads. The final productions were shown to form groups at the end of the day. Finally, year 9 held an activity day in which classes circulated around a range of tournaments from Dodgeball, Table tennis and Trampoline to Drama and Music.
A barbecue lunch was catered and everyone enjoyed their burgers and hotdogs with ketchup.
The day drew on the talents within the faculties and developed team building and problem solving for the students – as well as this, the college raised over £400 for charity.
