Provide problems that appear to have no solution but can nonetheless draw in the curious thinker, setting them off on a journey of exploration. Such questions are frequently philosophical in nature, for example: “What is good?”, “Can you prove the universe exists?”, “How much is enough?” “What is art?” or “Is it possible to be fair and just in every situation?” Identify a few of these for your subject at the start of the year, so that you can call on them when required.
