Exceptional GCSE results for St Michael’s Catholic College

St Michael’s Catholic College is happy to celebrate the excellent results achieved by its year 11 students in their GCSE examinations today. Principal Felicity Corcoran was delighted to report all students made excellent progress and the college is anticipating its highest ever score for Progress 8 which will be confirmed by the Department of Education in the autumn. 85% of students were entered for the EBACC and made exceptional progress. A significant number of students achieved grades 7 – 9 across all of their subjects, as a result a record number were eligible for St Michael’s prestigious sixth form honours pathway.

Adonai Habtom who achieved 10 GCSEs at grades 9 and 8 said ‘I’m really happy with how I did and I’m thankful for all the teachers and their support. I love this school.’. He’s planning to become a dentist and is one step closer to that ambition now, along with Iyayi Omoruyi whose 7 grade 9’s means that studying medicine at University is an achievable aspiration. There were tears of happiness from other students whose hopes for the future are now within reach.

These successes are due to the hard work of students, the support of parents and the dedication of staff and St Michael’ expects, once again, to be above national averages for all key measures.
