British Values and Gospel Values Assemblies

page

All schools are required to promote the historical and current values that underpin the national identity known as being British and to actively promote those values though their curriculum. The College’s strong Catholic ethos with its values of respect and concern for students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, along with a broad and balanced curriculum provide the foundation for the college delivery of these values. At the start of the summer term the Principal delivered assemblies to all students enhancing the work being undertaken across the college to highlight and celebrate British values. Ms Corcoran explained the clear link between British values and Gospel values and how both guide students to behave with integrity, tolerance and compassion in their dealings with one another and encourage students to look for opportunities to actively serve their community. Following the assemblies students have been discussing in tutor groups the British and Gospel values they aim to demonstrate this term in order to make a positive contribution to our college community. Their feedback will be presented to Ms Corcoran, senior leaders and leaders of learning to evaluate the impact of the assemblies and to identify actions to be celebrated and role modelled for the benefit of all students across the college.
