Catenian Association Public Speaking Competition

page

On Thursday 25th February, Brandon Ontama and Victoria Nwaesei in Year 12 represented St. Michael’s Sixth Form at the Southwark regional final of the Catenian Association Public Speaking Competition, which is open to 16 to 18 year old pupils attending Catholic Schools.

The ten participants from four local Catholic Schools, including our College, St. Thomas’, St. Gregory’s and Sacred Heart, spoke for four minutes on a range of topics; from the ethical issue of ‘True Riches’ to  the quirkily entitled speech,  ‘Blue’.

Brandon and Victoria both delivered thought-provoking, professional speeches on the philosophical topic of ‘What is God’s role in society?’ which resulted in Brandon being commended for his presentation by the judges; Archbishop Peter Smith, Susannah Hardyman, founder and CEO of Action Tutoring and Dr. Joseph Spence, Master of Dulwich College.
